I am fascinated in work that emerges from the nexus of art and design because this is where we see the clearest signs of how exploratory graphics will develop.
I am increasingly aware of my passion for working and experimenting across different disciplines and artistic sectors as for example multi-disciplined projects specialising in illustration, hand-drawn type and visuals, moving image and installations, alongside publishing and design work. (A design that encompass hand made work, printmaking skills, illustration,) (beyond the boundaries of graphic design).
I am keen to underline the self-expression of a graphic designer, the notion of authorship through my practice (in order to explore the experimental state and a daydreamer mode.
Through my work, I am particularly interested in the shape, form and nature of mixed material within process and time and how this language informs visual communication. A language that is built up over time and which is often re-worked, as a consequence new contexts and meanings are formed.
I am using materials, either found or manipulated, go through various stages of construction and deconstruction before, either by unintentional chance or informed by the process a route is selected and a direction formed. I am interested by looking at how this expresses a constant state of flux. (screenprinting on paper, collage and type, photography).
