Rules and Guidelines

THE SHORTLISTED ENTRIES HAVE BEEN SELECTED AND WILL BE ON DISPLAY FROM FEBRUARY 18TH

THE PROCEDURE

  • Works will be subject to two stages: short-listing for exhibition by the selection committee, and subsequent judging by the public visiting Canvas and Cream.
  • Shortlisted artists will be notified by mid November, and the remaining applicants will be notified soon after.
  • SAEs must be completed for return of all postal entries, or arrangements made for them to be picked up from the gallery.
  • On the opening of Canvas & Cream all visitors to the dining rooms and exhibition will be encouraged to vote for their favourite piece.
  • The winner will be offered a solo show later on in 2012.
  • There will be 30% commission levied on sales generated throughout the exhibition.
  • While we endeavour to take the best possible care, neither the curator nor the gallery can be held responsible for loss or damage to work.
  • Canvas & Cream will provide publicity in the café, on their website and mail out to their 1500+ mail list (including press and local organisations and galleries).
  • The exhibitor will appreciate that Canvas & Cream is a working studio environment for visual artists and a café for the public and so must avoid unnecessary disruption in terms of noise or other disturbance.
  • Occasionally the Gallery is used during the run of an exhibition, for talks and discussions, training sessions, workshops and art classes.
  • Private Views are held on Fridays 7-9pm to coincide with the South London Maps Last-Fridays, so set-up days must be Thursday and Friday, and get-out day is Wed, to allow for the following show to set up.

THE PRIZE

Along with the prestige and media coverage of being the winner of the first Canvas & Cream prize, the winner will also receive a Solo Exhibition in 2012.
