19th Feb – Dinner and Pop-up Film

by admin on January 28, 2012

On the evening of Sunday 19th February – day two of our Launch - we will finish off with a one-time-only Dinner and Film Night.  This is a set menu of two courses followed by a full screening of Garbage Warrior – an inspirational true story of maverick US architect Michael Reynolds and his fight to introduce radically sustainable housing.

‘Imagine a home that heats itself, that provides its own water, that grows its own food. Imagine that it needs no expensive technology, that it recycles its own waste, that it has its own power source. And now imagine that it can be built anywhere, by anyone, out of the things society throws away. Michael Reynolds and his crew of renegade house builders from New Mexico, are filmed in their fight to introduce radically different ways of living. Garbage Warrior also tells of how Michael and his team went out to Louisianna after hurricane Katrina and showed people how to rebuild their lives from the devastation and rubbish around them’.

In a unique visit, Garbage Warrior director Oliver Hodge is coming to Canvas & Cream to introduce his film.

This is a collaboration with thelittlegreenscreen – cinema with heart, a local pop-up documentary cinema looking to make the world a little better, one popup documentary cinema event at a time. The are only 45 tickets for this event, with Canvas and Cream members having priority booking. Tickets are £30 each for dinner and film. Film-only tickets (£6.50) may become available closer to the time, depending on bookings.
